Dear community,
I am taking time away from writing for a couple of weeks as I travel North to Oregon. I will share writing from two influential and exquisite women in my absence. Both of whom I know intimately and are part of my writing community. I trust you will enjoy their words just as much as I. May their words touch your heart and offer inspiration and connection.
Anné wrote this poem on April 2, 2023, in Intuitive Writing for Women alongside me and a small group of women. As we listened to Anné recite this poem, we were blown away by her writing, vulnerability, and powerful grace. There is something special to be witnessed, heard, seen, and understood. When held in a safe space, the veil of perfection lifts, and our authentic soul shines.
Thank you, Anné, for being part of this community and willing to share this intimate and powerful piece.
If I forget what to live for, it's only
it's only
it's only because I fail
to remember I am held
cherished
a holy child of this earth.
Let me remember to breathe in the wind, to allow open expand into all that is. Let me remember the spark of the divine that can never be extinguished, closed, shut, blackened.
My heart can't stop loving.
If I forget what to live for, it's only
because I've forgotten what
laughter is. Fat shiny golden Buddha
laughing laughing laughing
forgot what it means to dance
under the stars howl
at the moon run as fast
as my strong legs will carry me
just for the sheer pleasure of it
joy of it
the stretch the burn the wind in my lungs
Let me remember there is always more, always more, always more oxygen than I will ever need.
If I forget what to live for
perhaps it's because I have
forgotten the truth of who I am
God spark divine unlimited holy pure
whole whole holiest of holies
Let me remember to open my heart past the past, past the breaking point, past all that binds me. Let me remember to let the butterflies go free, the fireflies, the hummingbirds. Let me remember to feed, to nourish, to give life to all that I love. Which is to say, let me remember that I love.
If I forget what to live for
perhaps it's only that I have
remembered too many untruths
too many lies, the stories they told
me sunk in too deep, unholy, impure
unlovable unlovable
What does it mean to be unlovable, to be untouched by love, to be unheld, uncherished, unholy?
Let me remember that I am at one with God, Goddess, Mother Earth, Father sky, the wind my uncle, the juniper tree, my auntie.
I am at one with the cosmos, the beat of my heart in lockstep with the pulse of the universe.
Let me remember that place buried deep, so deep, so hidden deep inside that I am infinite. That I am a blessing. Let me remember my heart. Limitless heart, holy heart, beating heart, cherished heart held so close, held in ecstasy by All That Is.
Let me remember that a human lifetime is so short as to be nearly meaningless, that these moments can be dropped into the river like precious stones carried to a distant shore.
Let me remember how vast a human heart can be.
Let me remember that I love, I love, I love.
Let me remember that I am.
