How the healing comes
a poem and prompt + still time to register for free writing workshops & small group writing series!
Dear community,
Today, I wanted to offer you a taste of what we do together in Intuitive and Grief Writing for Women, share a poem that I will read aloud, and offer you a couple of prompts to explore should it pique your interest.
There is still time to register for my upcoming free workshops and small group series. To learn more, visit my recent newsletter, which has all the information you need.
We write to leave the life of the big mind and set aside more time for quiet inquiry. To carve out space to be with the day-to-day things and worries that keep us up at night, disclose them on paper, dripping them from the crowded mind.
Every time we sit down to write, we create the potential to unleash something within, to tell the truth, and to soften our experience and ourselves.
Whether you consider yourself a writer or creative, we all have a unique expression. When we give ourselves 15 minutes to pause and write, we open a doorway into a beautiful mystery and the details of our lives.
We create space for our intuition and emotions to uncover hidden shadowy, watery places, acting as a portal into darkness, light, inspiration, wonder, and magic.
With time and practice, we contract and expand; what is dense becomes porous, and what is stuck gets moved.
When we surrender to the page, we build the courage to surrender to life.
When we sit down to write, we greet ourselves, connect with ourselves, and begin to feel better. We say hello to the parts of our lives tucked inside and left behind and become more at home with ourselves.
In Intuitive and Grief Writing, we use poems and prompts to kick open the door and slowly move that which is beneath the surface.
It is a gateway to an emotional place where we can set aside our busy minds for a few moments and step into our bodies' quiet, silky, heart-felt spaces.
A poem will trigger something and speak uniquely to our experiences. It will take the essence of our feelings and marry them with what is moving through into words.
In this process of listening and writing, we welcome life with more grace and curiosity. Through this unhurried, intentional practice in this silent place of our soul, healing and clarity comes; you feel it like the air like life coming in again.
How the Healing Comes
by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer
Healing comes less like a falcon with mighty wings,
And more like an earthworm
That slowly, slowly
Moves
Beneath it all,
Tightening up
Then stretching out,
Tightening up
And stretching out
As simple two-part rhythm.
Somedays,
That is all the body can do.
Contract
Expand
Contract
Expand
In the meantime,
Through this artless act
What is dense
Becomes porous.
What is stuck and clotted
Gets moved around.
What is dead
Passes through,
Is processed by the grit inside.
There are tunnels now
In the soil of me,
Thin channels of recovery —
A blessed loosening,
A gradual renewal.
It's unhurried, but
I feel the air, the rain,
The life coming in.
Writing Prompts
Slowly moves beneath it all
In the meantime
Thin channels of recovery

Set your timer. Write for 15 minutes, pen never leaving the page. See what words flow.
